Jeff and Amira Potter
Founders and Directors of SaveMeNow, Inc.
Amira and Jeff founded SaveMeNow, Inc. in July 2023, driven by their deep love for animals, especially dogs and cats. Their decision was propelled by witnessing the desperate conditions of stray animals in Guamo, Colombia, Amira's hometown and where her roots lie. SaveMeNow, Inc. collaborates with the SaveMeNow Foundation in Colombia, led by Yaneth, Edgar, and Amira, to rescue and rehabilitate stray animals. Operating from Chapin, SC, the mission of the organizations is to create a better world for animals in need, especially in Guamo, where they are treated with compassion, respect, and care, and where every animal has the opportunity to live a happy and healthy life. The partnership between SaveMeNow, Inc. and SaveMeNow Foundation in Colombia has made significant strides in rescuing and caring for animals in need, organizing adoption events, and collaborating with local veterinarians. Their future plans include building an educational animal rescue center in Guamo to further their mission of creating a compassionate society that values animal welfare.
Who we are
SaveMeNow, Inc., is a 501 (c) (3) Non-Profit Organization dedicated to rescuing, sterilizing, and providing medical treatment to stray and abused dogs and cats in Colombia, South America.
Our main goal
To make a positive impact on the lives of dogs and cats in Colombia. Through rescue, rehabilitation, and community education, we strive to eliminate abandonment, alleviate suffering, and end the cycle of abuse.
Rescue, sterilization, medical treatment, and release
We have successfully rescued and sterilized 675+ cats and dogs to reduce overpopulation and future sterilizations. Similarly, we have provided medical treatments such as chemotherapy, healing, and care for severe injuries caused by vehicular accidents or human negligence. Our shelter serves as a temporary home for rescued dogs.
Puppy and kitten adoption
We help our rescues find a safe home that provides dignified and loving care for each puppy and kitten that we receive in our shelter. We have helped in the recovery and adoption of over 750 puppies and kittens that arrived with their mothers or were abandoned or discarded.
Education and raising awareness of the right to dignified and humane treatment of animals
We understand the importance of raising awareness and educating the community about animal rights, promoting responsible pet ownership to reduce animal abuse and abandonment.
Our team
Yaneth Devia
Co-founder of the SaveMeNow Foundation in Colombia and the boots on the ground.
Yaneth is a passionate animal advocate born in Guamo, Colombia. Her commitment to animal advocacy began at a young age. Despite limited resources, Yaneth took it upon herself to rescue and care for stray animals in her hometown. In 2022, alongside Amira Potter and Edgar Ramirez, she initiated the SaveMeNow Foundation in Colombia, dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating animals in need. Yaneth is the hands-on person in the field, aiming to eradicate animal abandonment and abuse in Guamo and its surroundings, extending her compassion to all animals in need. She has instilled her love for animals in her five adult children, who also advocate for animal welfare and strive to protect the lives of the most vulnerable animals in their country.
Edgar Ramírez Bonilla
Co-founder of the SaveMeNow Foundation in Colombia and the true friend.
Edgar is a co-founder of the SaveMeNow Foundation in Colombia. Despite living in Italy, Edgar joined the organization in December 2022 to support his childhood friend, Amira Potter, and her passion for animal welfare. Edgar was motivated to act when he saw a Facebook post about a pregnant dog rescued by Yaneth after giving birth to her puppies on a scorching morning in Guamo's main park. Alongside Yaneth, Edgar, and Amira, they founded the SaveMeNow Foundation in Colombia to help the most vulnerable animals. This foundation is the non-profit sister organization of SaveMeNow, Inc., co-founded by Amira and Jeff Potter in the United States. Edgar's commitment to animal welfare and his friendship with Amira continue to drive his work with the SaveMeNow Foundation.
